October 1, 2025

There’s something satisfying about a freshly cleaned car – shiny paint, spotless windows, and that just-washed feel. But giving your car a proper clean isn’t just about aesthetics; it also helps preserve the paint, remove grime, and prevent long-term damage. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide on how to wash your car using the right cleaning products.

What You’ll Need:

Before you get started, gather the following:

  • Fleetwash (not dishwashing liquid!)
  • Two buckets (one for soapy water, one for rinsing)
  • Microfiber wash mitt or sponge
  • Wheel cleaner and brush
  • Microfiber drying towel or chamois
  • Window cleaner
  • Tyre shine (optional)
  • Wax or polish (optional)
  • Vehicle Armour

Step 1: Park in the Shade

Washing your car in direct sunlight can cause soap and water to dry too quickly, leaving water spots behind. Find a shady area and let the car cool down before starting.

Step 2: Rinse Off Loose Dirt

Use a hose to thoroughly rinse the car, starting from the roof and working your way down. This helps remove loose dirt and prevents scratching during the wash.

Step 3: Cleaning the Exterior using Fleetwash carwash

Filling the buck up with wamr soapy water, get your sponge and start working in sections,

Step 5: Rinse Again

Once the whole car has been washed, give it a good rinse from top to bottom. Make sure all the soap is gone – leftover suds can leave streaks.

Step 6: Dry the Car

Use a clean microfiber drying towel or a chamois to dry your car gently. Blot rather than rub to avoid scratching the paint.

Step 7: Clean the Glass

Spray glass cleaner onto a microfiber cloth and clean all windows – inside and out. Avoid using household glass cleaners that contain ammonia, as they can damage tint.

Step 8: Add the Finishing Touches

If you want that showroom shine, apply a coat of wax or polish according to the product instructions. You can also use tyre shine for a clean, glossy look on your wheels.

Extra Tips:

  • Always use car-specific products to protect your vehicle’s finish.
  • Wash your car regularly to prevent build-up of dirt and contaminants.
  • Replace your wash mitt and drying towels when they become worn out or overly dirty.
